Jan Patek block

I was not into homespun fabrics or homespun type of quilts but Jan Patek designs has caught my eye. I saw a basket quilt in Quiltmania magazine by her and I loved it. Though I have no homespun fabrics I did want to recreate the quilt in the fabrics I do have. It is going to hang in my new classroom. Here you see the 1st appliqued block. More to come.
I do think the flower needs a little something. I thought about adding some beads to the top of each flower just to see if that is all it will need. Suggestions welcomed.

I like that block. Did you order the pattern?

what about doing some hand embroidery work, maybe in a different contrasting color to echo the edge of the flower? I think beads would be nice as well! Nice block!
