Dresden Blocks update project 3

This is the last item I created using the Dresden blocks that Debbie from http://www.makinquilts.blogspot.com/ sent me.
I decided to hand quilt this wall quilt and it is beating my fingers up. I tried using that little disk on my finger that is supposed to feel the needle once it goes through the fabric, but the disk is very inconvenient.
The lavender fabric came attached to the blocks already. I added the green garden trellis blocks that I have been working on and the purple border from fabric that I dyed.
I used Presencia pearl cotton on the Dresden plates and I am hand quilting the dogwood flowers I sketched on it.
I am liking this very much and I cannot thank Debbie enough for the wonderful blocks.
Any hand quilting suggestions will be appreciated.
I was thinking about purchasing the Thimbleladys video because her technique is supposed to be painless so I would appreciate some advise on that too.

darn.. I came here hoping someone else would have left a comment with a solution to the sore fingers. I'm sorry that I don't know of anything short of putting a piece of tape over the holes so as not to keep jabbing them. I think I've poked about as many places that were available.
The quilt is really looking lovely.

The Thimblelady technique is fantastic! It makes a huge, huge, huge difference as far as sore fingers go -- and one gets much smaller stitches, imo. I'm totally sold on it -- without a hoop, though.

The quilt looks really pretty.

I haven't done any hand quilting for a long time, but when I did, I loved the leather thimbles. I think sometimes they are called pioneer thimbles. One side is leather, and the other is knitted, and I liked them because I could still 'feel' what I was doing, but they protected my finger. They aren't very expensive either, and I saw them the other day at JoAnn's.

I do not know the first thing about handquilting. I've tried and I can't get my hand to do right. The wallhanging is going to be so pretty.
