New Technique Part 2

Recently, I was gifted some Dresden blocks from the 1940's and 1950's from Debbie at Making Quilts. I enjoyed those so much that I had to try this for myself.
Using Eleanor Burns "Egg Money Quilts" book, I made these Dresden blocks.
The technique Eleanor recommends is so easy and fun. Of course you chain sew the ends so that they are nicely folded on the top and when you applique you do not have to tuck anything down. It is a wonderful technique.
I wanted to break from the traditional setting of white, so I am using a red dot fabric that I received from the scrap swap and a yellow fabric from Moda that has a vintage look to it.
I like this so much that I think I will make more.

Betsy, the blocks are beautiful. You did a great job! Are you planning a new quilt?

You have great taste in patterns Betsy. That's two patterns we have both made. I will baste my (Eleanor Burns) Dresden quilt this weekend. Love that book. Then Times Remembered. I must get a picture taken of that one for my blog. How are you going to quilt your Dresden's? How did you quilt Times Remembered? I'm not sure what to do.

My plates were done like yours .... sew easy and the applique was also quick and easy. I love your background fabric. So very different from my blocks.
