Cathedral Windows Update
During the summer I posted about the Cathedral Windows wall hanging I was working on. Well, it is finally completed.
I am in the process of steaming it. My cathedral windows requires a backing because I no longer make it like the one on my side bar tutorial which involves making a square, folding it, sewing it, and connecting it.
The method I now use I learned from Australian Patchwork and Quilting Issue #3 ( I believe) and it simply involves cutting and folding squares so that there is no envelope making. To me this method is faster and easier though it requires a backing.

I have never heard of that other way of making these...will have to see if I can find a how-to :) Your quilt is stunning!
Betsy, it is beautiful. You should be very proud. I have not mustered up the courage to attempt the cathedral windows pattern. It seems too complicated. I'll attempt to find a copy of Issue#3 and give it a try. Thanks for sharing.
It's beautiful.
I'm playing about with the folded method at the moment, but like the sound of something easier, I'll have to look out for that magazine too.
I've never done a cathedral window because they look so complicate yet so pretty.
Betsy, it is beautiful!
Gorgeous! Great job Betsy. One day, I'll try it out, still stumbling with hand applique right now :)
I gave you an award :)
Te ha quedado muy bonito y luminoso
Very beautiful!
Oh Betsy.. this is gorgeous! I always think of this as your "icon".
Do you like the new method better? I know you said it goes faster.. but do you mind that you have to add a backing?
I have some vintage 1930's blocks that I really want to use in a catherdral window.. some day!
this looks great I have never done CW but one day I will give it a try.......
I love the brights shining out through the windows!
