Log Cabin pillows

Strolling along the aisles of vendors I spotted these pillows. They were from an estate sale. I liked them for the simple fact that I have not yet made this block and I knew that it was quite old from the looks of the fabrics.
I want to take the pillows apart and hand wash the blocks because they are a bit dirty and musty.
Looking for a place to take them apart and not a seam to be seen. So they were closed quite tightly. I want to make the pillows fluffier so I may make a new backing and buy some bigger pillow forms.
Will post updated look when completed.

I admire those who take things apart and remake them. I try to use my seam ripper as little as possible! Pretty pillows.

Love log cabins with a red center. that is the "fire on the hearth". I'd be kind of careful laundering that. Those fabrics look 1970's, and they may not be colorfast. The red may bleed. I would probably try handwashing in cold water and Woolite. But it may wash up just fine. ;-)

The log cabin pillow tops are very pretty. You might try using some of the color catchers to avoid running. Keep us posted.

Yes, be careful. When I hand washed some vintage 1930's fabric, a couple of pieces bled. Very sad.

Very pretty find!!! Those logs look very narrow, what is the size of the pillow?

I haven't done a log cabin either, yet. It's never interest me as much as more challenge blocks have. But I do have a kit I hope to work on this weekend, so I can conquer that. I think you are doing well at your estate sales! I need to find some around here. I agree with Cindy's recommendation about using color catchers or even washing it by hand.
