A New Bag
My friend Jean did a post about selvages a couple of weeks ago.
I started playing with this technique and I came up with a strip.
I really did not know what to make with it so I just let it sit there until the inspiration hit me.
Well this weekend I am off to the beach and I needed a bag for my beach toiletries.
So to add spunk to the bag I machine embroidered a mermaid and a beach ball on to the selvage strip and made myself a beach bag.
Thanks Jean, this is recycling at its best!

Your new bag looks great. I bet you get lots of comments on it when you take it out;)
What a bag! Thank you for the inspiration, I think I have to save selvedges....
Betsy you are just so amazing..I love it....
How clever...it surely is an eye-catching bag!!!
Love the addition of the mermaid and beach ball.
That is so cool! I'm glad you got the selvage bug.
How cute. I myself have been saving some selvedge edges. Check out Ric-Rac's blog and what she did with selvedge edges. She made a wonderful dress. http://vintagericrac.blogspot.com/2008/10/big-selvedge-project.html
That is so cute! I love the mermaid too. She is just perfect for a beach bag. You are really having fun with that embroidery machine!
How cute and the applique' just sets it off. You need to quit your day job and just create all day.
Oh Betsy, this is just adorable. Love that mermaid - so cute! Have a great time at the beach.
This is w-a-y cute!!!
That bag is adorable! I just love it.
What a great idea. I love your bag. So like a quilter to use every part of her fabric!
Great bags and a excellent way to recycle.

What a great bag. I love the applique.
Recycling and starting a new fashion trend - it's lovely and should be great for storing all you beach necessities.
Oh how clever. I LOVE this!
Hope you had fun at the beach. :-)
I just found you thru the selvage blog. Love the bag. I have a great quilty friend who lives in Spring Hill! I'm over on the other coast of Fla!
