A new technique
I asked my friend Jean to do a tutorial on strip piecing.
She is a quilt instructor and she has a post about strip piecing.
I had always wanted to try this but did not know how. So she did a wonderful tutorial and now thanks to her I will keep using up my endless supply of scraps.
Does anyone ever notice that the scrap pile does not get smaller?
I like this new technique. I was also fortunate that I had some off white blocks cut out from another project of years gone by.
Thanks Jean.

Betsy, I'm so glad Jean introduced you to stripping :) It is a great way to use up scraps, plus it is easy sewing on those days that you just want to sew, nothing complicated.
The blocks made up very pretty. When doing striping piecing do you quilt as you go? I couldn't tell by looking at the photos.
I love this block. You can use your selvedges like this too, same method.
I love making these kinds of blocks and have never done them "quilt as you go"....I know someone who has BUT then needed to put joining strips between the blocks and then didn't get the desired effect when the blocks were put together.
Your stringpieced blocks look wonderful, Betsy!!! Isn't it fun? The best part is nothing really has to match and you always have fabrics in the stash to use.
I am saving all my scraps for this purpose. Thanks for posting this.
Thanks for sending us over to Jean for her tutorial on strip piecing. I will get to it someday....
Now that looks like fun!
I love those squares and I guess, I just might have to get out there and strip as well. Maybe this is what I will show the little gal that wants to learn to quilt how to do.
Very pretty! I want to try that.
Betsy that looks so good, I have always wanted to do one of these as well...thanks for the inspiration..
Yes, strip pieceing is fun. I too found Lori Holt's patterns and ordered the Quilting one. Sew much to do, sew little time!
