I'm charmed-not!
I blogged about making this quilt in the summer.
My first block came out looking like a Chinese checkers game and this one won't even lay flat!
So, conclusion - I will not work on this quilt until I can actually take a class or my to do list is completely empty so I can devote all my time to this one.
At this point in my life, now is not the time to make this quilt.

It's so frustrating when that happens. Triangles are tough with all those bias edges.
I think you are right in moving on to something else that gives you more enjoyment. On day you may feel like tackling it again.
Could that be a pattern that was in Patchwork and Quilting? You'll get back to it when you're good and ready, I have projects just like that.
Poor Fiesta.. sounds like the patience is running thin.. that is okay I know you have many projects to turn too.. once you get a good day.. you will tackle it with success. I have seen you do much more complicated.
yes...put it aside and don't let it get you too frustrated. I think we all have projects like that. *sigh*
Betsy, you know you can do it just not now. Anyone who can make a cathderal window quilt can surely tackle a triangle.
We all have quilts like that. Mine is still sitting in a container at the bottom of the closet. It was started before I ever took one quilt class and learned about a true 1/4" seam allowance. It's triangles, too. It was supposed to be a queen sized quilt, but I am sure once I get back to it (just to get it done), it will probably measure out to be a twin. Oh well. Live and learn. Just because you know how to sew doesn't mean you know how to quilt....or at least that is what I learned. Move on to something else that will make you happy.
Oh, I hate when that happens! Put it away and do something fun; one day you'll be in the right mood to try again:-)
It does look like Chinese Checkers. Funny, but frustrating. Hey, it will be a new challenge in a year or two!!
I am so glad that you posted something that you are really not happy with....that didn't turn out like you wanted. Not that I am happy that it didn't turn ou but well...it is nice to see that others have a hard time on things as well..... You are smart to move on and take this task another day.
oooops . . . I guess it is time to work on a different project.
I have a Christmas quilt that has gone on and off the design wall at least twice but still is not sewn together. I know what I want to do with it but I just don't want to work on it: the setting will take work. But I know that I am allowed to decide to not work on something that frustrates me, and so are you. good thinking!
Don't you just hate it when that happens? I had the same thing with a Lone Star bed quilt - and I just quit on it - and started all over - I never can seem to fix those things - hope you get it figured out.
Hello Betsy,
Thanks for your visit in my blog!!!!
Your project is beautiful!!!!!
Regards from Spain.
Maria Clara.
oh Fiesta... I thought I was the only one those things happened to. I guess thats why there are corners in the sewing room, to throw them into. (then of course retrieve much later)
Oh wow, I don't think I could tackle this one.
Wow a lot of triangles. I am going to email you with a suggestion.
Are you doing this by hand? What are your challenges? Is there a way to strip piece the triangles? There's a book called Oh My Stars by Marci Baker: http://www.keepsakequilting.com/productdetail/1415.htm
It might have some techniques you can use for this project. Maybe see if you library has it first. I love this book, but haven't done anything yet from it.
I did this block recently. I got the pattern from the magazine Patchwork and Quilting. I made mine 12.5" rather than their size. It won a guild block contest. I hand pieced it . I made the 16 triangles, then pieced the eight diamonds from those. I put the together one after the other, instead of their way. It turned out fine the first time You can do this if I can!
