Let's get a jump start on Christmas gifts

Today I am making pillow inserts from leftover blocks.
I have plenty of blocks leftover from swaps so I am making pillow inserts for my son's girlfriend. In this case I am actually including the pillow . Usually the average pillow form is 17x17 or 18x18 so I make the insert one of the 2 sizes.
If you are shipping the gift overseas, it is less expensive to make the pillow inserts.
Now pillow inserts have really become costly lately. So what I do is wait for Joann's to have them at 50% off , or I go to habitat or goodwill, buy a pillow in very good condition, cover it in a basic white or off white fabric and then make the insert for it.
Since it will be a decorative pillow, it usually will not get much use.
Now if you want to be creative, you can include some extra inserts so they can be switched out.
Again, since these blocks are pre-made and measure 12x12, I just added a border and a back so I was able to make several at a time.Go ahead, make some pillows and share the picture for inspiration.

They are beautiful, Betsy! I still am in awe over your head start on the Christmas gifts! Well done!
I too am making pillows these days. Mine needed some upgrading, and some of the designs I'm working on make great pillows. I'll have to guard some of them from my family, but I need something pretty too:-)

The pillows are so bright and cheery. I will have to look for a good will.

One of my "goals" (as yet unattained) was to make pillow covers for ALL the seasons and holidays so I could switch them out in my living room.....SOMEDAY!!! Yours are very nice.

Pillow inserts! This looks like it was a really fun project! And a great way to use up leftover blocks!

I haven't bought a decorative size pillow in a while, but it floors me that they are more expensive than a bigger bed pillow would be.
