A New Project

For a long time I have been wanting to make a crazy quilt. With all the projects I have on the table I did not know when I would get to it. But there are some people making beautiful blocks that I had to jump on the crazy quilt band wagon. This link has the block that inspired me.
I have no idea if I will ever make a block so elaborate but I will try to do my best.
I asked my friend Cindy to join me in this endeavor.
Cindy not only quilts but also crochets and I bet she can whip up some thin crochet lace to add to her blocks.
This has been so exciting to me that even the art teacher has gifted me pieces of , suede and velvet. I ordered a book to help me with color design and embellishment. I am so looking forward for it to arrive.
This is my first block which still needs to be embellished.

I made ONE crazy quilt block awhile back.....started collecting things (including old silk ties and silky things at the thrift shops) and then realized it wasn't my thing, so I sent it to my blogging friend, Sandi, who loves that and is part of a crazy quilt group. Your block is wonderful so far and I'm glad you are enjoying this so much!

I have always thought "Crazy Quilts" were so unusual and unique. It amazes me how all those odd shapes get put together to make something so beautiful. Your first block is lovely and I can't wait to see what comes next!

XOXO,

Cyndi

I"ve often thought about making a crazy quilt. I remember ones I've seen in the past with velvets and rich fabrics with specialty threads and laces.......just so beautiful.
