A quilt a year.....
When my granddaughter Lilybug was born 4 years ago , I was still taking quilting lessons.
I vowed to make her a quilt a year until she turned 18 and so far I have kept that promise.
The 1st one was a fusible applique heart quilt . Each heart on the corners say something like her name, her birthday, her initial and her parents name.
The 2ND quilt was an alphabet quilt.
The 3rd quilt was a strawberry shortcake quilt and the last one I made her was a pattern I purchased from Nannette- the doll dresses.
Lily called me 2 times that week just to tell me how much she loved that quilt and how she was taking it to nap time at pre-school.
The 5th quilt I am still deciding on. Her birthday is in October and I told my friend Cindy that I wanted to make Lily a Halloween quilt. Cindy is a great quilter and has been helping me with this one.
My friend Toni sent me a complete super powered Halloween quilt kit for my daughter and because there is so much Halloween fabric in it, I am thinking of using some for Lily's 5Th quilt.
I cannot ask for better friends and blogger friends who are always an email away ready to help me in these endeavors.

Lily will have a very nice quilt collection by the time she is 18 and a beautiful collection it will be.
That is a great idea to make her a Halloween quilt this time. Maybe you can start to make her quilts for all the holidays eventually. What a great gift that would be....for her to have a collection of quilts that covers holidays, too!
What will be fun for Lily is to see the styles and change in your quilting throughout the years! This is a wonderful idea! I haven't any grandkids (yet) but will always keep this on my mind.
What a wonderful idea, and the perfect way to remind her each and every day how much she is loved.
A Halloween quilt would be fun!
I love how you have made her a quilt for every year. Pretty soon you are going to have to get her a rack to show them all off.
what a lucky girl Lily is .... do the quilts get bigger as Lily gets older lol
Your granddaughter is a cutie and she's very lucky to have such a wonderful grandmother. The quilts are just beautiful!
What a lovely idea to make your grand daughter one a year - she is going to have an amazing collection by the time she is 18!
What a lucky little granddaughter! I may have to follow your tradition and do that for my upcoming granddaughter! And you deserve the best from all your friends Betsy!!
What a great idea. It will be interesting for both of you to (some day in the future) step back and see how your quilting has changed over the years and how you've grown as a quilter. When I think of my first quilts I gave to my kids...well, I know I do much better now. I love all your quilts shown, but I really like the heart quilt best.
What a lucky little girl....what wonderful quilts and something she will cherish her whole life...
What a great idea to make a quilt a year. My grandson started out with several last year. He will be one in a few weeks so if I decide to make him one, I'd better get to it.
I am so impressed! What a lovely thing to do for her. I'm inspired! :)
Your grandaughter is going to get a lovely collection from you...How lucky she is!

A quilt a year is a wonderful idea. Then when she turns 18, you can teach her to quilt.
wow, that is awesome. The little dress quilt turned out so cute. What a pile she will
by the time she is 18.
The quilt a year is such a fabulous idea....these are just wonderful...what a good 'granny' you are....her calling you twice says a w-h-o-l-e lot!!
What a lovely idea I bet she will treasure them all.

You do such great work Betsy. You're making such a great collection.
Awesome idea and your quilts are so beautiful. My first grandchild will be born in the fall and I am going to try to accomplish this also. Thanks so much.
