Gee's Bend

Back from my mini vacation in Alabama.
Not much to do there but I did rest and enjoyed quality time with friends which was priceless.
I did visit 2 fabulous quilt shops on the way out of the state and because it was such a long ride , it was basically a hurry up and shop thing so I forgot to take pics. But one is here and the other one here
I did go to Gees Bend just for the novelty of it but the quilts were so expensive that all I came back with was the experience of the great ferry ride and a few pics.
Our Alabama friends did accompany us and they thought it was cool too.

My friends did love the quilt and it immediately went on their bed as can be seen from the picture.

First off, I LOVE your blog design! I have not been brave enough to play around with mine... My x inlaws lived in Auburn, AL. So, there's a ferry? hmm.. what town was this in? I can't remember why there'd be a ferry, will have to look at the map. Thanks for sharing.
I think I should make some Cumberland Bend quilts and folks can take the ferry here to buy them?!?!!? tee hee
Gotta hand it to them! Smart women! XO

That scrap quilt is original and worth noticing. Maybe you will start your own tradition and people will begin to travel to see where the fabled Fiesta Quilt tradition started.

Love the Gee's Bend quilts. They game to Indy a few years ago for an exhibition. The libraries even had programs to go with it.

Thanks for sharing your photos of Gee's Bend. Being from the South myself (Louisiana) I just love those quaint old southern towns!

So glad you had a nice and restful, relaxing time and enjoyed spending it with good friends. There's not much better than that!

XOXO,

Cyndi
