Let's get a jump start on Christmas gifts

let' s make a sewing table mat.
For some reason my sewing table is a bit slippery. It is also new so I want to protect it from scratches.
I made this mat to match the sewing machine cover I made a few months ago. I think if you click on Margo it will take you to the tutorial for the sewing machine cover which is also an excellent gift. We all need a new cover every once in a while.
All I did for the mat was sew 9-jelly roll strips (2.5 inches wide), and basically made a small quilt out of it.
Now it lays right by my sewing machine and I can lay my scissors on it without fear of scratching my table.Since the jelly rolls are long, you can make 2 mats at a time and have 2 gifts ready for your stitching' friend. If you have leftover fabric make her a coaster and pincushion to match. So that your friend knows what its purpose is, write a note on the label .

Your quilting skills are fantastic! Looks like it was quilted on a longarm.

Great idea! How about some sort of stickiness to the back so it won't slip around?
