A new project

As I was straightening out my sewing room last night , I found a magazine that had a quilt I had seen at a local quilt show that caught my eye.
It was in an issue of Australian Patchwork and Quilting and the quilt was made by Dale Ritson.
It is basically a quilt about all the things that mean something to her. It has 128 four inch blocks and it caught my eye.
I had seen a similar quilt at a local quilt show so of course I got so excited and started one.
Mine will be mostly machine embroidered since I have tons of embroidery designs that represent the things I enjoy the most in my life so there will be lots of pumpkins, leaves, flowers and quilting designs on mine among other personal designs depicting my life.
The original quilt has lots of techniques used on it but because I am swamped with so many hand applique projects I felt machine embroidery would be the way to go though I will include some pieced, paper pieced and even an appliqued one here and there. I guess it will depend on what I want to represent.
This quilt motivated me so much that I stayed up late working on it and I do not stay up late when I work the next day.
These are the 5 blocks I stayed up late working on.
I would love to include some blocks depicting the friendship I have with my blog friends so if any of you want to join in as a sew along, we can exchange blocks that represent us.

I've read about Dale, she is amazingly prolific and has made several of these gorgeous quilts with small blocks. I think yours is going to be really special with the blocks being personalised.

Your blocks are fantastic. Do have a preference on the background color?

What a wonderful concept! I love your blocks so far - can't wait to see what other things you add to it. Maybe some of your kids baby clothes into a block? How neat! I might have to start my own as well!
