Baltimore Liberty

Finally after months of detailed applique work, I have completed the first Baltimore block from P3designs..
I am not making the whole quilt, just certain blocks. I enlarged this block so that it is a wall hanging size.
I do have a dilemna. I am at a loss as to whether I should quilt the appliqued parts?

I already quilted this wall hanging but I do not like how the applique parts look. Could they still be quilted or should I leave them as is?

WOW! You did a great job.

You could just go in an quilt the applique by highlighting the parts. Maybe quilt the flag lines, etc... Just enough to tack it down.

I would stitch in the ditch around all your appliqued pieces first, then decide if you need more. You might need some in the body of the eagle, looks kind of puffy, but it's hard to tell from the angle of your pictures.

The wall hanging looks amazing. It is a stunning design. I can see what you mean about the quilting because the appliqué pieces are quite large. Maybe just stitching along the seam lines for some definition. You still want them to stand proud of the background.

That is gorgeous!!! Could you do a little stitch in the ditch on parts of the disgn?

This is just stunning! If I was going to do anything to this I would just go around the outside edge of the applique.

Since some of the pieces are big I would go ahead and quilt in them. I have done that before and it can add interest to the applique. It is a beautiful quilt.
