1302 Hexies

While at the Jacksonville Quilt show this weekend , lots of beauties were displayed. But the one quilt that received many many comments as I walked around was the top postage stamp quilt. Each square measures 1.5 inches and they were individually hand stitched. There were 2500 in the quilt I am showing you.
As many of you know I had 3000 -1.5 inch squares ready to make a postage stamp quilt but because the 1.5 inch squares came from several swaps well when I started the piecing process, they did not sew up evenly.

Hence was born my hexagon quilt. I now have 1302 hexies on it and barely measures 20x20 inches.

Well the postage quilt generated comments like " That woman had to be insane" . "who in their right mind would work with such tiny blocks" On and on it went.

So my cyber friends, what will be said about me when I complete my hexie quilt made of 1/4 inch hexagons and display it at a quilt show??

EEk, well you will probably get the same comments so if you show it, be sure to stand next to it. I would say I admire the fortitude to make a quilt like that.

People say evil things when they are envious! I think the quiltshow-quilt -and you hexie wip- are amazing. I cannot imagine ever having the patience to do one, but I really wish I could :)

You will hear repeated "wows"! The picture is great, but it's really hard to truly imagine the size.

You'll hear lots of jealous comments but lots of admiring ones too! I keep a container of 1 1/2 inch squares for a postage stamp quilt but I keep forgetting to throw squares in when I cut other projects!
