My baby girl had her 18Th birthday a few days ago.
She needed a new bag to carry her textbooks since she is now taking college classes at night.
I have been designing this bag for over a month and finally finished it.
Now I want to make her a couple more so she can switch them out. They just take me a long time because I am busy working, gardening, hand stitching, do I need to go on, and on???
I cannot finish this post without thanking
Helena she was my bag swap partner last year and the bag she made me was to die for,. She made the handles with binding and that is how I want to make all my handles forever. Thanks Helena.

That is just too cute...she will love different bags. You do sound awfully busy....put in all your things to do some "rest".
What a very lucky girl. Happy belated birthday wishes to your daughter. Don't you hate it when work interfers with sewing. Have a great weekend Betsy.
What a great bag! Happy birtday (a bit late) to your daughter!!!
What a cute book bag! You better be careful making her more bags, she won't be able to decide which one to use and might be late. ;o
Super bag! Oh my busy busy..would be nice if we could do only what WE wanted to do..;-)
Happy 18th BD to your daughter.
Great bag. Love the design. Nice padded strap too.
What a great bag! Love the handles! (Visiting from Spring Swap!)
very pretty, but you know what will happen when you make another, she'll want one for all the seasons.
Besty! Wow. I came over here specifically see how your Nanete's dress quilt was coming along because she showed a picture and I could hardly believe you have it done already.. but here you are showing a gorgeous bag you made too? I'm impressed. I am SURE she loves it!
Happy 18th Birthday to your daughter. I bet she loved the bag, it's georgous!
Beautiful bag !
Thank you for the nice comments you left on my blog. I am in love with the cathedral window quilt you have in your logo. I have to make one, too !
Great job on the bag. It will definately be put to good use, those college books are so heavy.
Love the bag...very bright and pretty. I am curious about the binding on the handles...do you bind just how you would a quilt?
